The market for driverless or autonomous vehicles is still in its infancy, but it is gaining traction, and we can safely say that autonomous transportation is the future.

According to experts, the market for autonomous vehicles will be worth 42 billion dollars by 2028. Almost all international corporations are developing prototypes of such vehicles, and a number of countries' legislation has been modified to allow for the use of drones on public roads. The number of unmanned trucks was estimated to be 20.3 million in 2021. The global leaders in this market are the United States (General Motors, Ford, and Waymo), Germany (Daimler, Volkswagen), and Japan (Toyota).

The toll highway connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg (M-11) (669 km) is expected to launch a trial mode of autonomous trucks in Russia as part of the "Autonomous Logistics Corridors" project.

Approximately 20,000 roads will be autonomous by 2030. A trial run on the aforementioned 10-kilometer stretch of highway is planned for 2022. Kamaz, Evocargo, and Starline will all participate.
