"Upper Lars" checkpoint
The "Upper Lars" checkpoint is located on the Georgian military highway, 40 km away from the city of Vladikavkaz. This is the only land route that allows you to enter one of the countries legally.

At least 50 cars pass through the checkpoint every day. The road through the Upper Lars checkpoint is open for cars, trucks and other vehicles. To cross the land border, you need to have a foreign passport, a driver's license, as well as a certificate confirming the registration of the vehicle. In the event of an epidemic, you should have, among other things, a vaccination certificate or PCR test that lasts no more than 72 hours.

"Upper Lars" customs point is open 24 hours a day. Depending on the season, you can quickly cross the customs, but wait your turn for hours. Mostly we have to wait from the Russian side, as Georgian customs officers rarely make demands on anyone. However, it can be said that the biggest peak is from six to 10 o'clock, and after 18:00 in the evening.
