Commercial activity is impossible without reliable logistics services. Transportation has always been an effective factor in sales of goods and services. It covers 50% of all the costs allocated to delivery.

What is transport logistics

It is a series of activities which is carried out for the purpose of organizing the transfer of inventories through a predetermined route. The direction is considered to be optimal if the delivery of the object is made within the shortest period of time at minimum cost, without damaging the goods that are being delivered. Transport logistics must ensure that the vehicle is fully loaded, and at the same time, the deadlines of the delivery of the goods are as short as possible.

Transportation logistics has two destinations:

• ✓ Internal transport logistics. The cargo is distributed directly to the company's territory or between its branches.
• ✓ External transport logistics. The delivery of goods is carried out from the manufacturer to the consumer.

The tasks of transport logistics include the implementation of the following types of services:

• ✓ Monitoring and organization of delivery of goods.
• ✓ Registration of relevant documentation.
• ✓ Legal support for cargo transportation.
• ✓ Payment for transportation services.
• ✓ Loading and unloading of goods.
• ✓ Packaging and placing in warehouse.
• ✓ Rationalization of the process.
• ✓ Information Support.
• ✓ Insurance and customs services.

Tasks which are carried out with modern transportation

There is a distinction which includes 5 key tasks, each of which is an integral part of the transportation process.

• ✓ Analysis of the delivery point. At this stage, the route is built by studying the destination point.
• ✓ Analysis of the quality of goods.
• ✓ Selection of the location of warehouse.
• ✓ Choosing a vehicle. Each vehicle has its advantages and disadvantages, for example, land transport is more mobile than air transport, although it is much more affordable. The vehicle is selected based on the following criteria:
  • ► Type of cargo.
  • ► Delivery of cargo.
  • ► Financial resources allocated for transport logistics.
  • ► The area, by which the road passes.
  • ► Optimization of parameters (increasing the speed of transportation, reducing fuel consumption).
• ✓ Monitoring of the transported cargo. This method allows to reduce the risk of loss.
